Department Society

The English Literary Society was set up under the Department of English of Dyal Singh College with a sincere aim to organize cultural and educational events for the students of the department, in order to help them be exposed to the multi-faceted, glorious, and rich world of English Literature. By default, all the students enrolled in the English (Hons.) course are initiated into the English Literary Society. They are a part of all events and are also eligible voting members to elect the Student Panel of the society. The Literary Society organizes an array of events, festivals, webinars, talks, seminars, etc. to help the students look beyond the written word, into the enriching experience literature can offer. As a part of its engrossing events, the society organizes an annual literary festival called “Madrigal” with a wide range of entertaining competitions, poetry open mics, and music performances. The festival, which has been running successful editions since 2015, did not lose popularity even during the pandemic, keeping its audience entertained virtually as well, hence, deserving to be the biggest highlight of the society’s year-round activities and events.
