About the Department

The department of history is academically one of the most dynamic, vibrant and competent department of Dyal Singh College. It is graced with highly qualified and sincere faculties. The department is dedicated to impart the vivid understanding of past and heritage to young minds. For the purpose, it ensures an excellent academic standard and a student-friendly environment. In order to promote a holistic learning approach, the department engages the students, both in curricular and extracurricular activities. It organises seminars and talks, in which, various national and internationally acclaimed scholars such as Andre Wink, Catherine Asher, Richard M. Eaton, Daud Ali, Cameron Petrie, B. P. Sahu have been invited in recent years. The students of the department have their own cultural body, which holds annual cultural festival, heritage walks and cricket tournament to enrich the talent, potential and skill of the students beyond the ambit of classrooms.
